Although no one can deny that SimCity has suffered from a few hiccups since launch, this hasn’t deterred an army of loyal fans from rushing out and snapping up copies like there’s no tomorrow, and the games launch has been called the most successful of the series by EA.
In a mere two weeks SimCity has managed to sell over 1.1 million copies, with the majority of these sales coming in digital format, just under half of which from EA’s Origin.
In this short time EA says that players have built a whopping 5.7 million cities, containing over 780 million buildings. Obviously no room for tea breaks or elevenses here. As well as these construction stats, EA also states that it’s increased the game’s sever capacity by 400%, with an increased response time of around 40 times.
Now that the game is getting closer to prime time status, it’ll no doubt continue to sell a bucket load, but it remains to be seen if EA will capitulate to fans’ demands for an offline mode, which is currently only possible using an unofficial hack.
